.....Consider natural beef from Manx Station Farm . Our Belted
Galloway Cattle, and goats are raised on land free of
pesticides and herbicides, and without steroids or hormones. Winter
hay (and grain if any) is purchased from a local farmer specializing
in providing natural feeds. Antibiotics are rarely used and only when
vet-recommended for a specific need.
.....Belted Galloways are an extremely hardy rare breed developed in
Scotland. Because of their double hair coat, they develop less of a
fat layer, are lower in cholesterol and have beneficial levels of
omega 6 acid when compared to other breeds. (See:
http://www.beltie.org/beef3.html ).
.....Grass feeding further increases these health benefits.
(See: http://www.csuchico.edu/agr/grassfedbeef/
and http://www.mercola.com/beef/main.htm
).
.....The USDA Meat Animal Research Center (MARC) at Clay Center, Nebraska
conducted extensive testing of multiple beef animal traits during the
period of 1986 to 1990. The research revealed that: “the Galloway
excelled in the beef quality trait areas of Flavor and Juiciness .…Galloway beef ranked first in taste.”
(See:
http://www.beltie.org/beef3.html ).
.....The livestock on our farm enjoy fresh air and the hilly pastures
from birth on our 192 acres in Washington County. They
enthusiastically respond to our calls as we resupply their mineral
mix, move them to fresh grass (or the apple orchard), or spread their
daily hay in winter.
